Art Journal Grid

I was inspired by a post on Julie Balzer's blog where she did a grid of mini paintings in her art journal. I can't draw or paint, so I used the idea and applied it the way I could - with mini paper collages!

I started by gathering all my little bits of ephemera, tiny images, lace and fabric scraps, and any embellishments that would work. I went with a muted color scheme, so that helped limit my selections.

I measured my pages and decided that 2x2 inch squares (twinchies) would work best. I stamped a grid on the pages using my new Pink Paislee Soiree stamp set. Then I got to work assembling the collages.

I stamped, I layered, I stitched, I glued. I had a lot of fun creating these pages. They're actually in my friend Julie's art journal. Now I want to make some to go in mine!

December 17

Day 17 of the Countdown to Christmas! Here is the box I made:

And the box and gift I received from Lyneen Jesse:

I love the Victorian images!

I participated in a Christmas twinchies swap. Here are the twinchies I made:

I started with a 2" felt square and then stitched on an image that I printed on cotton. I added glitter here and there to give the girls a little holiday sparkle. I'll share the twinchies I received as soon as they all arrive.

Back to School Twinchies

The Wednesday after Labor Day was always my first day of school. Labor Day weekend is a much more welcome sight to me now than it was back then. For my inchie group this month, we did a school theme and changed to twinchies (2"x2" squares). Here is the set I made.

I used pages from a vintage children's school book as the background and added photos from an old yearbook. Then I added a little ruler to each. A very simple design, but I like the retro look.
