More Easter Cards
I used up some of my paper scraps, too. The cards have all been mailed, so I can move on to the next project.

I finished my last round of Easter cards. Here are just a couple of them. Again, I kept it simple and didn't over-embellish.Vintage postcard images, stitching, and of course glitter adorn these.

I made a couple of small Easter decorations, using up some vintage postcard images I had leftover.
First up is a wall hanging that I made using My Mind's Eye paper (the clouds background) that I adhered to a piece of chipboard. Then I fussy cut the postcard image and layered on top of the patterned paper. Then I started embellishing - with Stickles, sewing pattern tissue ruffles, and hand-dyed ruffled crepe paper. I added a Prima dogwood flower (perfect for spring), to which I added Stickles for extra sparkle. I gathered several trims with a spring color palette, made a paper flag, and added an Idea-ology charm. Next, I made an Easter ATC and then added a ribbon to turn it into an ornament. I added the postcard image to a piece of cardboard and embellished with Stickles and more ruffled sewing pattern tissue. Now I have an easy, sweet ornament that's perfect for a gift. With my card making list getting longer and longer, I opted to make some simpler Easter cards. Here are a few that were mailed out today.
I used vintage fabric with a soft floral print, vintage postcard images, and coordinating papers. Of course, I added touches of glitter here and there. And they all needed some stitching. I love this vintage photo of the girl holding the Easter basket. I see fairy ornaments in her future... I need to get busy and make more so I can get them all out before Easter arrives. I love just about every American holiday, and 4th of July is no exception. It's actually one of my favorites. I think it's because I get to eat a lot of my favorite foods and spend time relaxing with my family. There's no rush to get ready for Independence Day, no gifts to buy, and no pressure to do anything. I made a few cards with a patriotic theme just to set out in the house.
I started with air mail envelopes. They have that fabulous red, white, and blue border. Then I printed out vintage postcard images and added some glitter. I added vintage sheet music, baker's twine, and other embellishments for a simple, easy decoration. I used some old beach photos as well. They have a wonderful nostalgic feel. I hope you're having a Festive Fourth! Labels: 4th of July, Independence Day, vintage postcards Thursday, March 31, 2011Hippity Hoppity
Easter's on its way! I made up sweet cards for the nieces and nephew.
I printed a few vintage Easter postcards onto fabric and adhered each to a cardstock base. Then I cut an egg-shaped "window" from a piece of pastel fabric and adhered and sewed it on top of the fabric postcard. Then I stitched a lace or seam binding ruffle around the opening and added a matching bow. Now I need to buy some sweet treats for them and I'm all done! I received a banner kit from Dede Warren. It was very easy to put together, and now I have another vintage style decoration for my Christmas house.
