Lily's Baptism

I FINALLY made a layout. I bought some new beautiful Bo Bunny papers for a layout of my niece's baptism.

None of my photos of the baptism came out too well. This one was the best and is completely overexposed. I did some technical adjustments and decided that the brightness added to the ethereal feeling of the occasion.

After layering the patterned papers, I created a paper and lace ruffle for the right side. I found all the "baptism" entries from one of my old dictionaries and found a perfect page from an old hymnal since she was baptized while watching the ocean waves.

Layers of fluffy vintage and Prima flowers accent the photo along with a few paper butterflies.

Birdsong Tags

I'm participating in Karla's Cottage Birdsong Tag Swap. Here are the tags that I made. Our only requirement was that the tags must have some kind of bird image. I started by covering manilla tags with vintage sheet music and a piece of watercolor paper that I painted in soft, flowing, cheerful colors.

Then I started layering on the lace, ephemera, stamps, and a bird image from a vintage book. I added vintage red labels and scraps from an old ledger. Then I added some stitching. I hope my swap partners like them, and I can't wait to see what I get back from Karla!

I put together another bird tag just for fun. I added some paint and bright stitching along with a bird stamp image, flower rub-on, and other bits and bobs.

Tattered Memories

I did another couple of pages in my art journal. This month, we worked with fabric. I had a great cabinet card image that I printed on a laser printer so I could do a gel medium transfer. I wanted everything to have a faded, worn look.

First, I applied plain tissue paper to the page for some texture. Then I did the gel medium transfer on top of the issue paper. Then I painted both pages uses a murky, grey/brown/blue mix. I added some rub-ons, bits of lace, stamps, and other images. I turned the vintage fabric over so it was even more faded. I took a piece of tapestry fabric and stitched on some beads and knots, then wrote out a sentiment and glued that to the fabric.

The painting image at the bottom is what inspired the "Sunday picnic" memory. I cut the image from a used art book and then distressed it with sandpaper so it too looked old and faded, like the maiden's memories.

Faith

I have been neglecting my blog lately. I have been traveling a lot of trying to stay on top of things at work, so I haven't had much time to create. Here is a card I made using some fun new supplies - kraft paper and patterned paper from Echo Park and Crate Paper. The bird and black border stickers are Echo Park.

I added a frame from an old sheet of Hambly patterned paper. "Faith" is a Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type sticker. I tied on some seam binding and inked the edges. I love the colors on this card and the simple style. A good reminder that sometimes, faith is all you need.

Bead Swap

I participated in My So Called Junky Life's bead swap. I was partnered with Heather from The Speckled Egg. Coincidentally, Heather was my partner last year in the bead swap. We had to send each other 30 beads and a focal piece, and put them in a decorated/altered box.

Here is the box I sent to Heather:

And the beads:

This is the adorable box I received from Heather, and the bracelet I made out of her beads:

I love everything that Heather sent!

Recent Cards

My niece is getting baptised this weekend, and I get to be a Godmother again! Here is the card that I made for her.

I used a page from an old hymnal and a Crafty Secrets Creative Scrap with some lace and trim scraps. I added an angel charm to the seam binding and baker's twine bow.

I typed a sentiment on my old typewriter and added some Stickles to the flowers.

Since I'll be visiting my family, we'll also celebrate Father's Day a little early. Here is the card that I made for my dad. I used Graphic 45 patterned paper with scraps from an old book, art book, notepaper scrap, and vintage image. I added some stitching for another texture.

I inked a small tag and added Glitz Designs woodgrain alphas.
