Much Thanks

I made this colorful card using papers and die cuts from Crate Paper. I love this collection, and wanted to do something a little outside my normal style.

I added a piece of vintage ledger paper to break up all the colors and patterns. Then I layered the die cuts in a hodge podge cluster. For a final pop of color, I added a piece of turquoise seam binding to the top.

Mailing Cards

Someone asked a little while back how I mail my cards. I take this into consideration when I'm making a card.

Here is a card I made with the intention of mailing it:

I kept the embellishments simple and the card is relatively flat. I added stitching and paper butterflies as the main embellishments. If the card had something that might get caught in the postal machine (like a button or a gem), I would wrap the card in tissue paper before putting in the envelope.

If I wanted to mail this next card, I'd have to put it in a bubble mailer, which costs more to send. So, this type of card is for hand delivery, or for including in a package.

As you can see, I went crazy with the flowers, knowing that I don't need to mail this card.

Thanks Sew Much

My "Thanks Sew Much" card was published in the April Cards magazine. This is my first "real" magazine publication, and I was so excited. I used patterned paper scraps for the layered background. I stitched each layer and then added a Crafty Secrets tag. The dress form and thread tag are Crafty Secrets stamps that I stamped onto patterned paper and then cut out.

I wrapped pink thread around the thread tag and added a sewing needle. After adhering my stamped images to the card, I added a label sticker and then made a title with alpha stickers and my old typewriter.

Published!

Do you have a copy of the April CARDS magazine? There's a card featured on page 60 that I'm awfully fond of :)

They did change a part of my instructions (I don't know why), and it's actually incorrect. So, if it doesn't make complete sense, that's why.
