My Christmas cards have been mailed! Here is this year's design.
I started with the silver fabric and layered it with white cardstock that I embossed using Tim Holtz Alterations - Snow Flurries texture fade. Then I added a sweet vintage image that I embellished with sparkling snow. The snow flake stamps and dies are from Papertrey Ink. I embossed the snow flakes, some with silver embossing powder and some with clear, to give the card even more sparkle.
I do have a few extra cards, available for sale in my etsy shop.

I'm participating in a Christmas/Winter Tag Swap, and these are the tags that I made. I tried to use up some paper scraps and add embellishments to make the tags extra special.
On this blue Santa, I used Tim Holtz paper, snowflake paper scrap, tinsel trim, and a few other embellishments. On Oh Christmas Tree, I used more Tim Holtz paper and a scrap of sheet music. I added a grunge board tree that I decorated by painting with Distress Ink, Crackle Accents, Stickles, Liquid Pearls, and snow. This one is called "don't get on the naughty list." I used Tim Holtz paper, a vintage image, vintage Christmas label, and tinsel trim. This one turned out to be a favorite. I used more paper scraps and decorated a grungeboard ornament with paint, Crackle Paint, ink, and Stickles. I made a branch to hang the ornament by snipping a piece of greenery and embellishing with tiny pinecones, berries, and tinsel. For this tag, I used Rock Candy Stickles to create the icicles at the top. I stained a vintage image by dragging it into ink that I smeared onto my craft mat and then sprayed with water - creating a very wet ink. I painted a grunge board ivy branch with Distress Ink and then added Crackle Accents on top. A little piece of tinsel gives it just the right sparkle. Lastly, I used more paper scraps to create a snowflake tag. I love the bold blue with the shiny white. I covered a grunge board snowflake with white Enamel Accents. I added rhinestones randomly on the tag (for "snowflakes"), and then typed a title on my old typewriter. I can't wait to see what the other ladies made! Last year, I got to meet Tim Holtz and take a class with him at Ten Seconds Studio. Well, he was back for more at Stamp Asylum this past weekend. I took the all day Artful Curio class yesterday. It was a lot of fun, and a lot of work.
We received a bare wood glass-fronted shadow box. The first thing we did was color the inside with Distress Ink and paint dabbers. Then we started layering on our background papers. I found a new favorite product - Tim's Tissue Tape. This stuff is a must have for any collager. It is a printed, (a little thicker than) tissue paper roll with adhesive on the back. I could have covered my entire box with it! But, I used it to fit those areas that would have been a nightmare to cover in paper. I will be off to Hobby Lobby this week to look for it. Now I wish I had taken more pictures to show you the work in progress and more of Tim's demos. Here he is unveiling all the findings and "stuff" we'll be using to assemble our curio "stories." There were three long tables FULL of supplies - old printer's blocks, kids' wooden blocks, metal charms, metal cars, buttons, lightbulbs, watch parts, game pieces, tape measures... and ALL of Tim's Ideaology metal pieces. And another table with vintage pearl beads, mica flakes, rusty jingle bells, and Frozen Charlotte heads. We were like kids in a candy store! Here is my work in progress. I still have a few things I need to complete from home - finishing touches, adding the box's feet and knob, etc. I did take a picture with Tim, but I waited until the end of day - after seven hours of crafting. No hair, no makeup, and I look exhausted. I'll spare us both that one. Labels: altered box, curio, frozen charlotte, Stamp Asylum, Tim Holtz, vintage |
