I have the crossed the line...

...into the world of crazy collectors.

The other night, before my husband could get home from work, I took a quick trip to a local antique mall. I bought a few little things - a vintage Paris fashion magazine, an old embroidered tea towel, and a small tin full of old buttons.

This tin of buttons was $8. I thought the tin itself was pretty cool, and saw some interesting buttons inside. So I bought it.

Fast-forward 30 minutes when my husband gets home, we go out to eat, and finally another 2 hours later we get home. I go straight for my tin of buttons and dump it out on my craft table to examine what I have.

OH MY GRAVY! I was so pleasantly surprised with my "haul" that I had to bring husband in to see them. While many of the button are just neat plastic buttons of various shapes, sizes, and colors, I have a decent sized pile of antique glass buttons, cut steel buttons, filigree metal buttons... Needless to say, I was in Button Heaven! Any one of these buttons is worth more than $8.

I even told my husband that I need to label the tin "special buttons," so that when I'm long gone, someone doesn't toss them out or send them off to Goodwill. But, maybe then someone else will have the thrill of buying a bargain treasure like I did.

Don't forget to enter my 200th Post Giveaway. Details are on Thursday's post.

There are some fun and innovation looks to buttons these days, but they do not compare to those of yester-year. What an awesome find. I love when that happens.

Hi Erica, I live in Greenville and we have several thrift stores here in town, I make the rounds. I got those plates at Twice is Nice. Where do you live? I haven't ventured too far since moving here 1 and 1/2 years ago. I've been to Lonestar Mall because my son lives in Keller. I like McKinney too. I'm trying to find a good place around here to start selling again. I've been out of the biz for a few years...I lived in Longview and had boothes in Gladewater for several years.

Don't you just love finding treasures! Those buttons are just stunning! As they say, someone's junk is someone else's treasure. I LOL at your special tin/goodwill comment! My family just doesn't understand (completely) my papercraft passion and after I'm gone I just know they will shake their heads and sell everything on ebay for pennies on the dollar. But like you said - we'll play it forward for the next person!

I love your comment on making sure your special buttons are not thrown out when your gone. A good friend of mine and I are always talking about our grown children throwing all our special goodies in the trash when we are gone.
