Butterfly Birthday

I made this card for my sister's recent birthday, and can finally share it with you.

I used papers from a Jenni Bowlin set I've had in my stash, and added a JB butterfly and chipboard buttons.

I ran black cardstock along with a Swiss dot texture plate through my embossing machine, then lightly brushed it with white ink to really make the dots pop.

I cut some of the coordinating papers into flags, and typed "happy birthday" using my vintage typewriter.

PS - If you haven't seen them yet, I have several projects in the new Create: Vintage magazine that's available now, and I also have projects in the January issue of Cards magazine, and Simply Handmade: Paper Crafting.

Merry Christmas

I have one last Christmas decoration to share with you as I wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

I'll be taking some time off to celebrate Christmas with  my family, but I'll be back in the new year to share the gifts I made for Christmas.

I've had this vintage ornament box in my stash for a while, waiting for the right inspiration for a small Christmas shadowbox.

First, I had to construct a bottom for the box (I only had the top). I adhered Jenni Bowlin paper to the box, that matched the colors and pattern on the box front perfectly. Then I cut out the children from another sheet of Jenni Bowlin paper (these are both from the Holiday 2011 collection) and adhered them onto a piece of chunky foam. I added a tinsel garland and strung vintage ornaments.

On the front, I adhered a sentiment and Santa image, both from Graphic 45 collections from seasons past.

Have a merry, happy, festive, special, and spectacular Christmas!

What a Weekend!

I had a busy weekend, but it sure was a lot of fun! On Saturday, I drove down to Waco to visit my friend Connie and then take a scrapping class with Jenni Bowlin! We each created a Beach Memories Vintage Mini Book. Here are pics of my book.

We started with one of Jenni's mini books and put a vintage postcard on the cover. She had this one with flamingos and I had to use it. That pink is so beautiful!

Here are a couple of the inside pages. I need to add some photos and touches of pink inside to match the flamingos.

Here I am with Jenni. She is so incredibly nice and friendly. It was like talking with one of your girlfriends who you have a lot in common with.

Then, I had to rest up for Sunday night - for Michael Buble! We saw him when he came to Fort Worth last time, and he did not disappoint last night. Here's the cutie pie serenading us.

We had a wonderful time, and also enjoyed his opening act - Naturally 7 - a talented group of guys who "sing" all their instruments. It was very cool and unique. Now I need to get some rest!
