Sweden

Our cruise stop in Stockholm was cancelled because of bad weather, which was quite disappointing to us. What to do with all that Swedish money we brought with us? When our cruise ended in Copenhagen, we rented a car and drove across the bridge to Sweden. The bridge toll was pricey (about $60 each way), but we really wanted to see the countryside.

We stopped in a few small villages as we drove up the coast for a few hours before we had to go to the airport and start our trip home.

We stopped in a McDonald's for a drink and a bathroom break. We were the only people there - at 9:30 AM. We thought the design was something right out of the IKEA catalog.

Malmohus, a medieval castle/fortress:

We came across this old windmill and church in Kavlinge.

Portions of the church date to the 12th century. The tower was added in the 15th century.

Medieval tower in Helsingborg:

We didn't get to spend a lot of time in Sweden, and there are still things we want to see in Stockholm. One of these days...

Later that day, we flew to London and had dinner with friends, before departing the next morning for home.
