Dreams

What a long blogging break I've been on! I expect it will continue for a bit longer. We did find a house to buy and we will close and move into it in mid-July. In the meantime, I have been busy packing up our house and getting everything ready to move.

I wanted to finally share a project I made for Mother's Day. I made three variations of this layout (for me, my mom, and my sister) that features a sweet photo of Lily Munchkin sound asleep.

I used beautiful patterned paper from Sassafras and embellished with all sorts of bits and bobs.

I added Maya Road chipboard wings that I coated in glossy white enamel paint from Ranger.

She looks so sweet and angelic. Lily Munchkin couldn't understand why she had wings, so she was told "because she didn't have horns to put on you instead!" :)

Create Banner

I made this banner for a friend's birthday. Since it's something to hang in her scrap room, I made it in colors that match her room, rather than fluffy pinks and fairies that would match mine.

I started with a Maya Road canvas album that I embellished with burlap, cardboard scallops, painted alphas, and paper flowers.

Using the pre-made banner pieces allowed me to spend time on the embellishing instead of cutting and stitching canvas.

I used a set of alphas that have a great pattern, but the color scheme wasn't right. So, I painted them red. You can still see the pattern through the paint, but not the colors.

I added a scalloped piece of cardboard that I further distressed and added paint, a denim-pattern scalloped circle, and navy seam binding to tie it all together.

Holiday Magic

As soon as I put my Halloween craft supplies away, I started making Christmas decorations. I found a large Maya Road bottle cap in my stash, and decided it was perfect for an ornament. I traced and cut out the background paper from a sheet of Bo Bunny paper. After adhering it to the inside of the bottle cap, I added mica flakes and a border of gold Stickles.

Then I added the Webster's Pages trim around the perimeter. The Santa is cut from a piece of Graphic 45 paper. I added a bleached bottle brush tree and then embellished it with mica flakes, Stickles, pearls, rhinestones, and an old mercury glass bead at the top.

I added some snow for the deer to stand in and a chandelier drop and rhinestone bead to the bottom.

My Valentine

I enjoy crafting for holidays. I think because it gives me a reason to make something. And, I really enjoy decorating for each holiday, so I get a chance to display what I've made. Right now, I'm getting ready for Valentine's Day. I made this embellished heart. It reminds me of the vintage candy boxes that are so beautiful.

I don't know what I'll do with it yet. I might make it into a card. Or, I may try to find a box to adhere it to and make my own vintage candy box. Then I can fill it with candy and have two treats in one! :)

I cut out a heart from a piece of vintage fabric and stitched it to a heart cut from sheet music. Then I stitched a crepe paper ruffle and adhered it to the back of the sheet music heart.

I then adhered the heart to a large pink doily and began embellishing. The flowers are mostly Prima with a few others I have in my stash. The "my love" sticker is an old Rusty Pickle sticker from my stash. I added glitter around the sticker ('cause everything looks better with glitter). I added a new Maya Road heart stick pin and tied on some baker's twine to bring out the touches of light turquoise in the flowers.
