Lovey Dovey

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here is another card that I made for this sweetest of days.

I again used felt, lace, and fabric for the background. I added a paper doily and an image that I've saved for years that I cut from an old calendar. I knew I'd have a use for it some day!

Sweetheart

I made my first attempt at a fabric heart/pin cushion. I'm pretty darn pleased with myself at how it turned out.

I used all vintage fabrics, with the exception of the muslin ruffle.

The embroidered piece I used at the bottom inspired the colors and fabrics.

I added sequins, beads, and old buttons to give it some more character.

And I searched through my stash for the perfect piece of tatting.

The hardest part was stitching the front and back together with the ruffled trim. I think I need to watch some video tutorials to get the hang of it a little better before I attempt another one.

Love Is in the Air

I managed to make just a few Valentine crafts this year, including this card that I sent to a special Valentine.

I started with bright pink felt for the background and layered on fabric and lace scraps and a sheet music printed fiber paper.

The images are from Graphic 45 - the Sweet Sentiments and A Place in Time collections.

I typed a sentiment on my vintage typewriter and added glitter to all the flowers.

I hope your Valentine is thinking sweet thoughts of you on Friday!

Valentine ATCs

I'm participating in a Valentine ATC swap, so I got busy in my craft room with the beautiful Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments and Place in Time collections.

Here are the ATCs I created.

They all follow the same design layout, but each is unique.

I used the adorable images from the Graphic 45 papers.

I layered the images on vintage sheet music and other pretty papers.

It was a great way to use up some scraps.

And each got an ample does of glitter!

Happy Valentines Day

I don't usually go overboard with holiday celebrations other than Christmas, but this year I will celebrating Valentine's Day at the happiest place on earth!

How appropriate that I made this card for Husband for this special day.

I used the same layout that I used on my other Valentines, but with a more grown-up, romantic feel. I cut the globe from a sheet of Pink Paislee paper and added the glitter heart.

I hope you're having a sweet and special Valentine's Day.

Valentine Doll

I recently took a class from the wonderful Ann-Denise Anderson. We made spun cotton Valentine dolls. Everyone's was so unique and we all had a great time.

Here is my doll:

We learned how to make a basic armature, then wrapped it in sticky wet cotton.

Then we painted the girls and dressed them in little crepe paper outfits.

And decorated little "cakes" for them to stand on.

Here are just a few of the other projects from the class.

Lisa made an adorable kitty for a friend. Now I want one for each of my sweet furbabies!

And this little lady is perfectly poised.

This one looks like Marie Antoinette. She was stunning in person!

And I thought she looked like a foofy cake topper.

Everyone's projects were fantastic, and so much nicer looking in person than my photos captured.

{Hearts} for You

When Lily Munchkin was here, we spent some time crafting. One of the projects we were worked on was Valentine hearts for everyone.

Here is the heart that she made for me (I think she got tired after making several, which is why I have stickers and no other embellishments :)

Here are the hearts that I made. She didn't want one of my hearts because I made it "ugly" by putting ink on it.

We used up scraps and whatever bits and bobs I had laying there in front of us.

Valentine Spoolies

I participated in the Vintage Dragonfly's Valentine Spoolie swap. My swap partner was the Dragonfly herself, JoAnne.

Here is the spoolie I made for her. I used a vintage wooden spool (with the pink thread still on it) and embellished with lace and flower trim. Then I added the sweethearts, who are sitting in a garden of paper flowers under their parasol.

And this is the spoolie that JoAnne made for me:

She is precious! All of the sparkle is just perfect, and she is displayed on my entry hutch, which I always foof up for each holiday.

Thanks, JoAnne, for another great swap!

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope you have a loving day with your sweetheart.

Here's a card I made for mine. The background is a piece of Jenni Bowlin paper layered with a scrap of Bo Bunny Dots paper (leftover from the Christmas cards). I cut a heart from an old tablecloth scrap and layered it with an old wallpaper scrap.

A metallic paper medallion, tag, floral pin, and some stitching complete the card.

Valentine Twinchies

This month's twinchie theme was Valentine's Day. I made a few different styles and was able to use up some of my scraps from card making.

Valentine ATC

I made another Valentine ATC while I was waiting for my swap ATCs to arrive.

I made the heart using paperclay. I flattened the clay and cut out a heart. Then I stamped on the heart while it was still wet and set it overnight to dry.

Once dry, I inked the heart before adhering it to the background, which I created with patterned paper, scrap of trim, and stitching.

Then I added a button and baker's twine to the heart. I'm out of paperclay now, but have more ideas and want to use some cookie cutters with it.

Be My Valentine

I pulled out the Valentine supplies and made a few cards.

I think this one will go to my niece. The sparkly flowers and die cuts are so cute!

I used the same color scheme for this card, but a completely different style.

Valentine ATCs

I'm participating in artJOYstuff's Valentine ATC swap. These are the ATCs I made:

I used an old letter for the background and stitched on some lace. Then I added wings to a sweet little girl so I had a cherub. A ruffle of sheet music, old tatted trim, dresden heart, and a typed sentiment complete my ATC.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here is the card I made for my extra-special Valentine. I used papers left over from last year's stash, vintage lace trim, Maya Road chandelier drop and heart pin, and Martha Stewart baker's twine.

I added hearts cut from chenille and felt and an old button.

In the past two weeks, I've left the house to go to doctor's appointments only. This year's gift will be homemade. I've been baking some treats for my sweet. Then he'll remind me that he (we) needs to go to the gym.

Valentine Tags

This week's challenge at Tag Tuesday is Valentines. I made a few Valentine tags using my card scraps. I added embellishments from my stash: lace, ribbon, ruffled crepe paper, Hambly rub-ons, foam and fabric hearts...

doilies, pom pom trim, Valentine embellishments...

...and lots of love went into each one.

Be My Valentine

I went to a crop on Friday night and wanted something easy to take with me to work on. I loaded up my Valentine supplies and got to work on cards for the nieces and nephews. Here's a look at what I made.

I started with pink cardstock and layered patterned paper and Valentine journaling spots with vintage lace, flowers, and hearts I cut from chenille and felt.

Heart doilies and vintage buttons add more texture.

My Valentine

I enjoy crafting for holidays. I think because it gives me a reason to make something. And, I really enjoy decorating for each holiday, so I get a chance to display what I've made. Right now, I'm getting ready for Valentine's Day. I made this embellished heart. It reminds me of the vintage candy boxes that are so beautiful.

I don't know what I'll do with it yet. I might make it into a card. Or, I may try to find a box to adhere it to and make my own vintage candy box. Then I can fill it with candy and have two treats in one! :)

I cut out a heart from a piece of vintage fabric and stitched it to a heart cut from sheet music. Then I stitched a crepe paper ruffle and adhered it to the back of the sheet music heart.

I then adhered the heart to a large pink doily and began embellishing. The flowers are mostly Prima with a few others I have in my stash. The "my love" sticker is an old Rusty Pickle sticker from my stash. I added glitter around the sticker ('cause everything looks better with glitter). I added a new Maya Road heart stick pin and tied on some baker's twine to bring out the touches of light turquoise in the flowers.

Sisterly Love

This past week's Theme Thursday challenge is vintage children, a favorite subject of mine. I spent a few minutes last night creating something. I'm ready to create for Valentine's Day, so that's what I did.

I started with a base of patterned paper from Making Memories and stitched on a ribbon scrap. Then I stitched on a photo of two little girls.

I surrounded them with a bouquet of pink and red flowers from Prima and Fancy Pants. The heart pin is from Maya Road. I made a title with my Dymo label maker and added a scrap of pink seam binding at the top.

I'm still not finished with my December Daily album, so I doubt that I'll do that again! Time to move on to the next holiday...
